OotD: How I Wear Wet-Look Leggings in Real Life + Restyle Bat Bag

This is a follow up post to the How I Wear Wet-Look Leggings in my Dreams post and most of what follows will following along the lines of: ugh, leggings are hard. My real-life wardrobe was not prepared for a piece so different than what I usually wear. Pants are not my thing but leggings have the added difficulty of not quite being pants. The way I want to style leggings is as an imitation of pants (but more comfortable) and to stay far-far away of appearing like I’m wearing leather-looking stockings.

Blouse: Thrifted | Kimono: Missguided | Leggings: Black Milk | Bag: Restyle | Earrings: Etsy* | Boots: Free People

You could say that this look is inspired by my The Craft Dream outfit but in actuality it’s a result of meltdown in which everything I tried with these leggings either looked like a dress or, screamed “look at my underwear imprints”. To my glee the sun suddenly shone down, and as if the weather had finally had enough of my ridiculous tantrum this kimono was thrown down into my grasp.

The handbag from Restyle was much less of an instance of fate and more a result from ominous trolling around on the internet looking the rare bag that I enjoyed and would be big enough for a fourteen hour day at Uni (not to mention I pack all my food). Usually I prefer messenger styles to tote-esque purses. In the future I’m planning a super simple DIY where I add a nice thick chain and fashion a pleather grip.

In mini-review style: I was scared that the bag would break under the weight of University looming over it but so far it seems very sturdy. The pockets on the end are perfect for carrying a small water bottle but the metal clasp makes it hard to fit larger books inside even though the main pocket has no trouble in that regard, because it’s smaller in length than the pocket itself.

Don’t worry guys! I’m slowly working my way back to the point of this post which is the leggings. Speaking of leggings: Do you think I won at the great battle of leggings, or should this outfit retreat back to laundry day wear?

*I’ve removed the link of which these earrings were bought. Unfortunately I can’t remove all links of which I’ve connected to this seller. But I wanted to note that it wasn’t in my knowledge that the seller in question gathers his materials from furriers, something that I don’t want to  promote and I certainly would not have bought these if I had known (actually it makes me really sad to think I once – accidentally – supported this).

Bored of Your Goth Fashion? Three Tips Straight from my Babybat Era

Sometimes we get bored of pulling on the same petticoats and the same ripped stockings day after day. But that doesn’t mean we want to throw away those things forever. Below are three super simple little changes that might just bring your old dusty Docs into the new year. Each one hand-picked from my days of ripped blue and black tights, and bleached blonde hair.

Scream
Another thing I want back from my younger days were the kickass fangs I had! – Scream by Martin Soulstealer

Hoard Fabrics

When I was younger I would make more clothes than I would buy, and so, I would have tonnes of scrap fabric around to tie around random places on my body. You have some spare netting from a veil, wear it as a summer scarf? Your denim shorts looking a bit dull, tie a patten you love around a belt loop for some colour (or not!).

Consume More Music than you Do Consumer Goods

Back in the day I would search for bands constantly; I would find more new bands I loved in a month than I bought clothes in a year. Enjoying music is free (and even if it isn’t free, it’s cheaper and lasts forever). Just one little change in atmosphere can make any set of clothes feel instantly new again.

Inspiration Is Important

It’s so much easier to stick with the same inspiration you’ve had for years (and that may work for any number of you) but for me the easy choice isn’t the happiest. I revel in new ideas, learning about lots of random things (‘I once spent a day learning the science behind toilets’ random). This year I hope to search out inspiration at least once a week, to avoid annoying fashion ruts like the one I’m almost out of! Human beings were born to grow and evolve!

Our young days of dressing alternatively were all about learning the basics of what we like to wear and how creatively we can wear it. If you were to look back to your younger years – I know not everyone was a ‘baby bat’ – what would your tips be?
