Back to Reality

Back to school, back from vacation, back from that summer slow-down, September usually means back to business for everyone. Well, until Halloween, then we’re all back in slow-down mode. Anyway… one of the great things about September, Fashion Month, paired with Fall Fashion. Your excuse to get dressed up again. For a fashion lover, that’s even better than vacation.

Link-spiration: Halloween & NSFW

Hands up if you’re just about bursting for Halloween to show it’s spooky face? Because I certainly am.

Did you guys know that Yankee Candle has released a tone of lovely Halloween bits and bobs – candles and holders? I didn’t until I read so on Coffin Kitch’s recent outfit post! I’m so unhappy that they don’t ship to Australia (but then again I would have spent too much on candles).

On that note of Halloween, Bath and Body Works has released the first five Halloween PocketBac‘s of the season. I’m so excited, and can’t wait to eat up their products (not literally) like Halloweeny goodness!

On to the NSFW (Not Safe For Work) or children for that matter, Dirty Grrrl posted recently about Something Weird Video‘s mash-ups of adult films from the thirties to the seventies. I loved her commentary on how the porn industry has changed and it’s certainly something to check out for anyone into film or sexuality.

For all of that Halloween fabric I know you guys are stocking up on is a nicely simple DIY shawl video by Kazlovesbats. I’m really loving the Stevie Nicks vibe that shawls give out and it’s about the only object I would put tassels on willingly.

Speaking of Halloween, you might not want to miss this amazing photo-shoot by one of my favourite bloggers,  Leena of Luurankoja kaapissa, incorporating Snow White. It’s a beautifully done photo-shoot (also inspirational her more recent post on her modeling history) and is a great source of inspiration for the forthcoming Halloween!

Oh, and don’t forget that Batfit is starting up again! I may not actively partake in it, but in my life this year I’ve taken a turn for the healthier side of thing and each post is a little of continued inspiration (from both the wonderful Curious Professor and all those other wonderful bats that take part in my news feed).

Updated Links Page

I updated one of my pages that was previously “My Current Favourite Links”. A lot of those link’s changed a lot lot and I was too lazy to update it so it is now my Lovely Blogger List. Meaning a list of some of my favourite Bloggers, presently. But don’t expect me to update it too often. So, check out some of the lovely faces! I’m pretty sure most of them are Goth’s or Alternative in some form.

Best wishes,

DIY

This post is in responce to this week’s Poll of the Week: DIY.
DIY is an ever changing but ever accepted part of Gothic Culture. From the eighties Goth DIYing band shirts and Punks modding leather jackets to sewing your own lolita-esque skirt or lace gloves. As Goth is an ever changing subculture, the DIY is as well – for example the rise in Cyber Goth and the DIY of synthetic dreads and cyber-locks. You could even add DIY hair dying and cutting to a list of DIY. If DIYing creates a piece of artwork that is original, tailored to what you want – to your own size, then, why not? There’s no pressure to become a seamstress.

Leather Jackets:
Stockings:
How to rip stockings (Surprisingly I haven’t seen this before now)
Assortment:
How to make your own body form (for all your sewers out there!
Simple Box Pleated Skirt (This is what I always use!)
Antimony and Lace will always be a good starter DIY site for Goth! So, check it out here.
Best wishes,
-Sary
