T-shirt: Kmart | Skirt: Oasap | Stockings: Target | Shoes: Asos
Belt: Boohoo.com | Sunnies: Asos | Bag: Killstar

Check out my new super-cool bag! I snagged it on the Dollskill Black Friday sale and decided to rock my casual, “classically Sary” look. Velvet, skater skirt, ripped stockings and boots; yep, that’s me! I’ve been insanely obsessed with X-Files so when I saw this bag by Killstar I went a bit crazy. Everyday after work I sit down to at least one episode of X-Files. I think I’ve got a little bit of a Scully hair-do going on at the moment to boot!

Are you an X-Files fan? What’s you favourite episode? I’ve been really wanting to do a current top five favourite X-Files episodes but I’m not sure if that would be useful to anyone that isn’t my fan-girl self.

Oh, and if you’re into Instagram, you might like to follow me @SaryWalrus. Don’t forget to drop me a comment with your own, so I can check out yours too!

How I Style Lip Service’s "School Girl" Bralette in my Dreams

This “In my Dreams” post couldn’t be more of a dream-worthy cause because I have always had terrible luck with bustiers. This may be too much information but breasts were not designed to fit into too tennis-ball shaped circles! They do in fact reach all the way back towards the armpit and up too (or past?) the collar bone.

But I digress.

The real interesting introduction is that I found this Lip Service bustier in the Nasty Gal Labor Day sale. While I don’t quite know what Labor Day is and if it applies to us Australian’s I will take full advantage of the fact that I bought it for twelve dollars. Twelve dollars.

So, while this beautiful little tartan beauty has a rather big chance of not fitting I can at least revel in the fact that I am a super awesome discount shopper, and my excitement for future outfits will be immortalised in this post. Am I getting too dramatic?

Skirt | Necklace | Boots | Coat

This outfit makes me think “eighties” because of the oversize blazer/coat with shoulders but a bit bohemian because of the necklace (I really want a big coin necklace!) and the midi skirt. The leather keeps the punky attitude of the tartan bustier but is at the same time pretty modest. Oh, and of course boots are a must!

Leather Shorts (either side) | Kimono | Boot | Socks

When I started with this outfit I was playing up the “school girl” title. But the tailored shorts turned into leather shorts, and I had to throw a kimono as anice little cover up for sunny days. Finally, some nineties boots purely because I’ve been craving nineties boots lately.

Maxi-skirt | Moon Necklace | Rings | Fringe Bag | Bralette

Romantic, or witchy? I’m sure Stevie Nick’s would be proud. Soften up the hard plaid with this freakin’ amazing chiffon skirt. I was so close to buying it but I just couldn’t allow myself to press the confirm button! You will be mine.

What would you wear with a bustier? Or have you disowned them because of their incredulous ability to, uh, not fit? You and I may soon have that in common.

Outfit Post: Prim & Punk

Recently, I found an adorably ugly dress with a tonne of floral print at a thrift store and have been wearing it ever since. It’s kitschy (resembling eighties patterns) print goes surprisingly well with everything! I’ve been meaning to get a nice little floral dress to punk up and this was certainly the dress.

Guess who got a new pin! I love Kiwis.

Just last night I ordered a few more pins from a lovely Etsy store that I hope to be reviewing soon. It’s a simple way to build some interest in plain outfits and show some personality!

winged eyeliner, pussybow, floral, punk, goth, gothic, leather jacket, pins, piercings,

Winged eyeliner has definitely been a go to for me lately. It’s so simple and if it’s only for say, a doctors appointment (like this outfit was – yes, I have a huge bandage under that sleeve!) it doesn’t need primer.

floral, dress, leather, jacket, ripped stockings, goth, gothic,

Beware the bitch-face. I never smile, or talk very much when Coen is away (not to say I’m not happy!). He had to leave for a few weeks for his sisters wedding. In the meantime I’ve been enjoying all the things he hates: loud music, horror movies (well, bad ones) and lots of spinach!

What little things do you like to enjoy when you have the house to yourself? I, myself, love to cook to really loud music!

My Dirty Little Secret: TV and Film

I’ll be the first to say it, as I always am, I watch terrible television shows and films. Minus the classics, you can’t not like Vertigo or The Addams Family, I take tastes to a new terrible.

Link

American Horror Story
This is debatable as a bad show. I loved the first season (I eat romance up like a Seventeen reading pre-teen) and the second starting and ended well, but overall I’ve heard terrible people say terrible things about it – am so I’ll slot it into my terrible TV list.

Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows
This film takes horrible sequels to a new low. The plot starts interestingly, but the ending isn’t anything mind-bending (like it’s attempting) but it’s something I love to watch on chilly mornings while drinking coffee. It holds personal significance as a film I watch when all of my exams are finally over and I can just relax in the morning with a cup of coffee.

The Carrie Diaries
A take on Carrie, from Sex in The City, as a teenager first exploring new york. I eat up the eighties soundtrack like no bodies business. Perms, neon-eyeshadow, platform boots – it’s a bit like the disney version of the alternative scene to me. But the rebellions, Morrissey loving, eyeliner wearing sister gets on my nerves as a terrible representation of what Goth actually was.

Scream
Eighties horror. What’s more to like? Scream has been my favourite horror for a long time – including all of the prequels and sequels.

Pretty Little Liars
An attempt at a horror mystery, where every one’s relationship falls apart ever few episodes and all of the characters (apart from the psychotic) are always in love with some rebellious dick. This goes hand in hand with my terrible ability to resist romance.

So, my taste in terrible television can be summed up as eighties, horror, romance and, well, that’s about it. These aren’t really a secret thing though, certainly not now, because it’s always nice to laugh at yourself – whether that is for being a complete cliche’ or for watching terrible teen programs about fashion in the eighties.

What are your favourite shows to watch? Do you have any programs that you secretly love?

What would a fashion post be without skinhead girls?

I have an obcession With Neurotic Eighties Hiighschool Movies

Heathers (1988)

The above statement is very true. I am the largest fan of neurotic Eighties high school movies but this is more of a post to let you all know that I’m still swimming along in life. I wont lie and tell you I’ve been busy, I spent nine hours today playing Sims 3 non-stop until I became bored and un-installed it for the seventh time. There’s no nicer way to say that it’s the holiday’s, I am now in my last year of high school, and feel the need to spend the majority of my time doing absolutely nothing. Though I do have some post’s coming up! I was suppose to do an outfit post this week but I was lacking inspiration. I’ve also come up with some more hair dying idea’s. I hope you are all doing well and try not to miss me too much.

P.S. At the moment I am watching a movie called Heathers; It’s amazing. The fashion is so incredibly eighties! I could steal ever outfit from it, ever.

An IAMX Love Lotter

Link

Spit it out. Spit it out was the first song that I had heard of IAMX and at the time I thought it was nice but wasn’t very interested. It was first bright to me through a youtube subscription of my favorite industrial dancer, through which I found this band. The dancer posted a few videos, all of which I was eager to look at and my love for them started to grow. In the beginning I had never thought I would enjoy this bands music to the extent I do now but as time went on my love grew into the “fan-women”-ness that will be mentioned ahead.

Chris Corner, the only member of IAMX, is the envy of all men as his following of “fan-women” grow larger. Some have said such things as “His voice/lyrics are like sex”. IAMX was the solo project of Chris Corner, which was created after he left his prior band Sneaker Pimps. Chris constantly works with other artists, eg Moonbootica. He also produces, performs, mixes and all included variations of these methods in each of his songs. Chris Corner also produced the soundtrack for the French film Les Chevaliers du ciel.

IAMX is classified as “1980’2 inspired electronic” music and, hence, is highly dulled in some instances. He suggests topics of sex, death, drugs and politics strongly throughout most of his music. An example can be found in Pretty Little Angel, in which IAMX features, explores fetishes throughout the video.
Link

Chris Corner, though he is classed as an electronic artist, is a prime example of alternative but highly Gothic fashion. He is prone to cross dressing, elaborate make up, essentially black, black veils, suits and fetish elements in his videos and generally his work. His make up is highly eighties electronic, including (but not limited to) triangles and blue lightning bolts!

IAMX is a promising act that has three albums and is still creating to this day. With 1980’s inspired electronic, cross-dressing, gothic fashion, sex, death, eighties make up and all around sexiness, what isn’t to like?
-Best wishes, SaryWalrus.
