Last time I was only able to participate once as I wasn’t prepared but this time is different. If all things work out I’ll be posting everyday and I can’t wait to read everyone else’s.
Anyway, on to the outfit!

Monthly Theme: How To Add A Touch of Flowers to a Dark Ensemble

Floral prints aren’t something that is typically considered totally Gawth but I’d have to disagree with this point. Flowers aren’t something that should be gawked at with disapproval it should be celebrated! Here are some tips to add a little bit of life to your afterlife outfit!

  • Red roses are a romantic Goth’s stereotypical best friend. Of course there are more dark flowers than just this, be creative!
  • Don’t forget lace! Good quality lace comes in all kinds of patterns. A common style being rose printed lace. It might be just what you need to spice up at jabot you’ve been working on, or add some simplistic elegance with some lace stockings in a flower pattern. Other idea’s include mourning veils, lace gloves, etc.
  • A top-hat adorned with flowers! Must I add more?
  • Flower hair-adornments. A metal comb with flower engravings sounds gorgeous and not too overwhelming.
  • The Mexican Day of the Dead is typically represented with lots of colourful flowers. Typically marigolds, a type of flower, are used in honour of the dead.  Lots of jewellery contains this as well! I for one absolutely love Day of the Dead themed jewellery.

Outfit Post: Faceless and Florals.

Today my main aim was to get to the piercer, any piercer! Preferably with competent. I found one and my day was saved! This is what I wore. I couldn’t get any good pictures of my outfit though. I’m not used to taking pictures of my outfits any-more – after having other people help and generally not doing any outfit posts for a long while. These were also taken after walking about town hanging around thrift stores (I found a new one today!) and shopping.

My nose has been infected for quite some time and after sea salt solutions not working, saline solutions not working, tea tree oil and buying new jewellery for it, I found that it wasn’t healing because the recommended  jewellery (by another piercer) was a combination metal. All in all, I’ve spent over two hundred dollars on this piercing, have been to every piercer in town and I’m not giving up. Heal, dammit!

Anyway, here’s the outfit!

Outfit:
Cardigan: Thrifted.
Dress: Thrifted.
Belt: Second-hand from my mum.
Necklace: Second-hand from my grandmother.
Choker: Bought at Animania.
Stockings: Gift.

I barely if ever wear my hair completely up, I don’t think it suits me but today I just, felt like it. Do you get days where you feel like doing something you usually wouldn’t?

In all honesty this outfit looked so much better than is seems. But, oh well. I try and wear this dress every now and then. I really love it. Mum originally bought it for herself but didn’t like the way it looked on her – which generally means I can have my way with it (that sounds disturbing. Hehehe).

Best wishes,

Spring Has Officially Come.

Spring is one of my favourite times of year. Each year it rolls around and the tree in my backyard gets covered in pollen, so much so that a hundred bee’s come and gorge off it. My back yard is filled with the sound of a lovely hum that they make together. Not to mention the flowers!

This reminds me of a completely real event. When I was younger we had an old lounge that we kept on the front porch. This lounge was home to hundreds of bees that had created a hive in it. I remember having a special man come and cut out the queen while my mother stood in front of the hive with the man and I sat up in the front tree, too frightened to stand with them. The man had told us as long as we didn’t threaten them they wouldn’t sting us. The bee’s flew out in a long thick stream buzzing, only a few stung my mother. It was a wonderful experience that I hope to never forget.

Here are some pictures that I hope you enjoy.

A lovely bee feasting on some delicious pollen.

The family puppy, Argo. Her name is short for Argonaut.

The tree.

Merve lounging around the front yard, after I came back from a walk.
