Bodyline Review: Music JSK/Skirt

This is the fifth and final, finally, in my series of reviews of a bunch of new items I bought from Bodyline recently for my birthday. I plan to do rather in depth accounts of each so I thought it best not to lump the ridiculous amount of detail pictures into one post.

This skirt I found in the JSK section of Bodyline, which is strange because I consider it a skirt entirely. Not to mention it’s full JSK counterpart was right next to it.

Details:

Title: L025

Colour-way: Black.
Size: M
Fabric: Cotton. A bit stiff.

Un-ironed.
  •  I was considering getting rid of the ruffles. It’s a little too maid style for me. But I love the suspenders.
Love the print!
  •  I really love the music print. I studied music for two years and have sung for my entire life, choir and a few competitions, so I thought this would suit me. I’m still not sure if I’ll suit the print though because prints just don’t like me.
Frillllls!
  •  The suspenders are changeable and it wouldn’t be hard to change if you’re a lot taller or a lot smaller.
  •  The waist is so incredibly stretchy. I honestly didn’t think it was going to be this stretchy.
  •  The annoying zip. This zip sticks out uncomfortably when trying to poof up a skirt, giving it an odd shape which really annoys me.

Overall, I really love this skirt. I don’t think I’ll get much use out of it though. I’ll have to think about ways to make it work. I really hope it’ll work though.

Best wishes,
-Sary

Bodyline Review: Costume Skirt

This is the third in my series of reviews of a bunch of new items I bought from Bodyline recently for my birthday. I plan to do rather in depth accounts of each so I thought it best not to lump the ridiculous amount of detail pictures into one post.

I decided to pick up a plaid skirt from the costume section of Bodyline, sue me. It’s actually a really nice skirt and I can see it being used a lot! Plus it was insanely cheap for the quality.

Details:

Title: COSTUME537
Colour-way: Red
Size: 4L (Which was a bit too big for me.)
Fabric: Heavy fabric, very thick.

  •  I kind of freaked out when I took this skirt out of the package. The bottom of the pleats were completely hemmed. It was easy to cut away though. I was talking to my mother about it and apparently some stores do this to keep the pleats nice and straight. I had no idea, but I don’t doubt that’s the reason.

  •  Along with the hem I cut away for the pleats I’ve found a bunch of stray red threads all over all of the clothing I bought.
  •  The hook of the skirt is really sturdy plus it’s movable.

  •  You can remove the eye of the hook and slide it along this little bar to tighten the fit. I thought it was really awesome and smart! A little unnecessary but pretty awesome.
  •  I had no idea what this was at first. I thought it was a pocket but couldn’t find any opening.
  •  Until I found the pocket! It’s hidden in the zipper of the skirt. That’s another pretty awesome thing, considering I never have pockets in my skirts.

Even though this is a costume skirt I think it has the quality of an everyday skirt. I really like it. The red is so bright plus the awesome closure. Plus the hidden pocket. It’s a lot longer than most of my skirts, but they tend to be bordering a slutty length, so I don’t mind the change.

Red and Black Week: A DASH-ing Outfit

The title isn’t me being egotistic it’s a terrible pun. I’m in so much of a rush today, well tonight here. It’s seven and I still need to do lots of housework and get started on assessments and homework. Ick, I feel terrible and can’t wait for the weekend. Tomorrows Friday though. I make it a habit to play and dance around to in joy, Friday! I’m in love, every Friday. No matter how cliché’ I enjoy it.

Anyway, onto the outfit!

Outfit:

Blouse: Thrifted.
Cardigan: Jocks and Socks.
Skirt: Bodyline – costume section actually but it doesn’t lack quality.
Stockings: Unknown.
Shoes: Dr Marten.

Ironically, I look rather terrible but as I said, dash! The point of this outfit was to show off my new pleated, tartan skirt. I really adore it though the sizes were terribly misleading and way too large.
Best wishes and happy Red and Black Week,
-SaryWalrus

Red and Black Week Outfit: First Actual Lolita Coordinate

I’ve been waiting so long to post this outfit! I’ve already been posting it around on my other networks but I’ve been planning for Red and Black Week for quite some time. Last time I was only able to participate once as I wasn’t prepared but this time is different. If all things work out I’ll be posting everyday and I can’t wait to read everyone else’s.
Anyway, on to the outfit!
My first actual Lolita outfit! What a great event to celebrate it with!
 Outfit:
Dress: Bodyline.

Cardigan: Jocks and Socks.
Stockings: Unknown.
Shoes: Payless Shoes.
Blouse: Bodyline.
Hairbow: Bodyline.

Some red flowers.
A hint of red strawberry buttons! :3

I hope you enjoyed my outfit! See you tomorrow.

Best wishes,
-SaryWalrus

Outfit Post: Skirt Length Experiments

Most know that I’m not one for longer skirts unless paired with a corset and ankle length and even that’s moderately rare. I bought this skirt off eBay and don’t bother to check the length first, silly me. Generally I end up re-hemming most of my skirts anyway though. Before I hemmed this one though I wanted to try it out in an everyday outfit.

I really don’t like the shape a straight too long for me skirt makes. It makes me look boxy and even more rectangular than usual. So, it looks like I’ll be hemming this.

I wore this to the pathologist, an unexpected visit. I’m still fighting that infection in my nose which means I’ve been on three different sets of anti-biotic and had two trips to the pathologist in the last few weeks. Bleh.

Outfit:

Blouse: Bodyline. It’s actually the long sleeved blouse that I love so much!
Cardigan: Jocks and Socks. I’m loving it! So soft. Even though it’s kind of large on me.
Skirt: EBay, originally from H&M.
Stockings: Kmart and no idea. I didn’t get to layer my usual amount of stockings as my parents have a habit of saying “Ten minutes until we’re leaving” and then two minutes later telling me we’re leaving. I barely had my boots on.
Shoes: Dr Marten.
Necklace: EBay.

Tell me what you think of the skirt? I’d love too know. I had the pleasure of getting to know a rather ghetto (knocked out front teeth, backwards cap and not wearing a shirt in a mall) man’s opinion while doing shopping with my mother. Another outfit, another opinion. Oh well.

Best wishes,
-SaryWalrus

The usual feet shot! :3

Bodyline Review: Blouses (short and long sleeve)

This is the fourth in my series of reviews of a bunch of new items I bought from Bodyline recently for my birthday. I plan to do rather in depth accounts of each so I thought it best not to lump the ridiculous amount of detail pictures into one post.

Short sleeved blouse:

Details:

Title: L375
Colour-way: Black.
Size: M
Fabric: Thick cotton. A bit stiff.

Un-ironed.
  • The lace is just as soft and nice as usual. It isn’t the best in the world but it’s still good.
Strawberry buttons! That are actually the colour
in the link rather than this colour.
  • The lace on the sleeves is the only lace in this whole bundle of clothes that is scratchy and annoying. It’s bearable but very annoying when I’m paying attention to it.
  • I adore the little strawberry on the sleeve with the bow though!

  • The annoying thing that confirms my want to get rid of the fake corset lacing is the fact that they use lace instead of grommets or even hoops or something. You wouldn’t want to pull it too tightly or I just know it’ll rip right into the blouse.

Long sleeved blouse:

Details:

Title: L114

Colour-way: Black.
Size: M
Fabric: Thick and VERY stretchy! So soft!

Un-ironed.
  • The fabric of this blouse makes me so happy! Considering it’s one of Bodyline’s cheaper blouses it’s so good!
  • This blouse successfully stood up to the washing machine, as most Bodyline items do, and is just as soft as ever.
I think the collar is adorable.
Lace overload.
  • The cuffs of the sleeves don’t actually undo. The buttons are fake but it doesn’t really matter to me.

  • All the lace is pretty darn soft!

  • I love the heart shaped buttons!

  • The back has two corset laced parts which are kind of useless as the fabric is so stretchy.
  • Yet again with the corset lacing.

Overall, I love these blouses and can see myself using them in a lot more than just lolita co-ordinates. Actually they’d both be great for kinderwhore!

Best wishes,
-SaryWalrus

Bodyline Review: Hairware and Headware

This is the second in my series of reviews of a bunch of new items I bought from Bodyline recently for my birthday. I plan to do rather in depth accounts of each so I thought it best not to lump the ridiculous amount of detail pictures into one post.

Details:

Title: Bow that came with L329
Colour-way: Black
Size: BIG.
Fabric: Heavy cotton.

  •  Random fake pearls are random? There are none of the dress that I can find.
  • I put it on the headband myself.

Details:

Title: Bow that came with L025
Colour-way: Black/grey
Size: Medium.
Fabric: Cotton-ish.

  • I put it on the headband myself.
  • There’s a pin on the back that I have yet to remove.

Details:

Title: ACC516
Colour-way: Black/white/red
Size: medium
Fabric: Ribbon/lace/plastic.

  • The rose part is so plastic and uncomfortable to touch.
  •  I love that there’s a two way back!

Details:

Title: ACC698
Colour-way: Black
Size: N/A
Fabric: Plastic

  •  This comb is so frail. It’s easily broken but it was only one dollar.
  • Foldable!
  • Back combs really well.

Best wishes,
-SaryWalrus

Bodyline Review: JSK/Dress

This is the first in my series of reviews of a bunch of new items I bought from Bodyline recently for my birthday. I plan to do rather in depth accounts of each so I thought it best not to lump the ridiculous amount of detail pictures into one post.

After being ironed.

Details:

Title: L329
Colour-way: Black
Size: M
Fabric: Heavy fabric, very thick.

  • The back is stretchy, VERY stretchy.
  • I’m considering taking out the fake corset lacing but that’s only because I dislike them.
  • I’ve already cut off the waist ties. I don’t like them at all. I never thoughts I’d be one to not like them but apparently I am. I’m planning on turning them into bows.

So much lace!

This is the lace on the straps.
Lace from along one of the edges.
  •  This lace above is a bit scratchy and loots a bit ugly as well.

Breast area lace.
  • The big part of lace that doesn’t look too nice on the picture isn’t actually too bad. It’s soft, a tiny bit scratchy but it shouldn’t be touching skin anyway.
  • There’s chiffon fabric layered at the bottom of the best and some chiffon ruffles around the bodice. It’s very lovely! I love that it has little heart prints on it and the hearts feel like felt or some other soft fabric.
Bows.
  • I don’t like that the bows are satin. I find it rather cheap – that’s kind of why I didn’t like any of the other plain black dresses on Bodyline. But oh well, it’s only a small part.
  • The heaviness of the fabric is SO GOOD. I have found the zips on Bodyline skirts/dresses to stick out and make it puff out at bad looking angles when trying to get a nice poof. With the heavy fabric this doesn’t happen!

Overall, I’M IN LOVE with this dress. It’s my favourite so far (which isn’t saying much considering the amount I have) but it’s definitely taught me that prints don’t suit me at all. I adore everything about this dress, apart from those darn bows, and I can see it getting a lot of use and holding up to the elements for quite some time.

Best wishes,
-SaryWalrus

Outfit Post: Lolita Dress, Dr Martens and a Jabot.

The pictures of this outfit doesn’t do it enough justice, in my personal opinion. It was the wind that made the skirt look so un-fluffy – though I’m not wearing a petticoat with it. I have three petticoats, two that are very small and one that is way too huge!

There isn’t much to say about today. I don’t feel the best emotionally but that’s something I get used too. I just finished watching a film set in the 50’s that was really inspiring called Mona Lisa Smile. In retrospect it makes me feel horrible about the future and my own expectations in combination with the people around me.

 Outfit:
Blouse: Thrifted.
Cardigan: Given to me by mum.
Dress: Bodyline.
Jabot: Self-made.
Stockings: K-mart, probably.
Boots: Dr. Martens.

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day.
Best wishes,
-Sary Walrus
