Red and Black Music Videos: She Sells Sanctuary

To find out a lil’ more about what I’m doing for Red and Black Week look no farther than this link here.

Bonus, She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult

Of course, Siouxsie isn’t the only one on the red light boat. This video by The Cult is both red, catchy and ridiculously handsome (or is that just the band members). You have to take a moment to appreciate the light/outfit co-ordination!

Also, a great big thanks to Sophistique Noir for the lovely annual Red and Black week. If you haven’t checked out here blog you might want to as fast as possible, by clicking the picture at the top of each post for the week or here!

Don’t you just want to steal all of the clothes in this video?

Red and Black Music Videos: Cities in Dust

To find out a lil’ more about what I’m doing for Red and Black Week look no farther than this link here.

Cities in Dust by Siouxsie and the Banshees

One of the popular favourites for new comers to the genre and certainly worth the time. It’s funny to think that a song about the lava enveloped victims of Pompeii was the first song of the band’s to hit majorly in the charts and a song that is danced to daily.

Red, Black and White Goth Music Videos: Happy House

To find out a lil’ more about what I’m doing for Red and Black Week look no farther than this link here.

Happy House by Siouxsie and the Banshees

Siouxsie’s slightly twisted Happy House is red, black and white with a slight green hue in the background. Even Siouxsie herself bares red lips and a black and white ensemble that I think only she could ever pull off – but that could be said about a lot of things!

Would you wear Siouxsie’s outfit?

Red and Black Music Videos: Dear Prudence

To find out a lil’ more about what I’m doing for Red and Black Week look no farther than this link here.

Dear Prudence by Siouxsie and the Banshees

You probably were not wondering on the bands ability to mess with light in live performances but if you were: they were successfully red, blue and perfectly timed. Besides the fact that it’s Siouxsie Sioux, it is a cover of a Beatles song and Robert Smith is playing with them (if I were there I would probably pass out from all of my dreams enveloping in on me at once.)

What would be your dream-plosion?

Red And Black Music Videos: Red Light

Not enough homage is paid to Siouxie Sioux on my blog and as some of you know, by my mentioning it in passing, I’m re-enveloping myself in the history of the subculture (for the pure joy of it). And so, my red and black week is going to reflect this. Each day I’m going to be posting a Siouxsie and The Banshees song that fits the theme, plus a bonus song on the last day (I didn’t want to overload you with a long post of them). Also, it’s my final assessment week at Uni and I don’t want to neglect you guys!

Red Light by Siouxsie and the Banshees

How could I not include the song with red in the title? Not to mention the music video is entirely red and black.

Are you getting those posts ready for Red and Black Week?

Poll of the Week: Fan Pages

The question on my mind lately strikes with the sudden up-rise of fan-pages of anyone even slightly popular (or not). There are fan-pages (mostly on Facebook) for bloggers, models, youtubers, writers, poets and even the tumblr famous. But the question will remain the same:

Is it time for me to make a fan-page?

Part of me thinks that it’s pushing it. I don’t have very many people wanting to talk to me or get updates from other platforms and we all see those fan-pages with ten likes that are a bit embarrassing for the owner. But another part wants to meet the people that follow me and Facebook is a very open platform that most people have.

  • No.
  •  Yes.
  • Not yet.

Post below if you think this is something you would enjoy and make use of.  Alternatively you could tell me I’m being completely “up-myself” and to stop being silly. :3 You guys should know by now that I take your opinion well into account when making important decisions for my blog!

Best wishes,

Red and Black Week: A DASH-ing Outfit

The title isn’t me being egotistic it’s a terrible pun. I’m in so much of a rush today, well tonight here. It’s seven and I still need to do lots of housework and get started on assessments and homework. Ick, I feel terrible and can’t wait for the weekend. Tomorrows Friday though. I make it a habit to play and dance around to in joy, Friday! I’m in love, every Friday. No matter how cliché’ I enjoy it.

Anyway, onto the outfit!

Outfit:

Blouse: Thrifted.
Cardigan: Jocks and Socks.
Skirt: Bodyline – costume section actually but it doesn’t lack quality.
Stockings: Unknown.
Shoes: Dr Marten.

Ironically, I look rather terrible but as I said, dash! The point of this outfit was to show off my new pleated, tartan skirt. I really adore it though the sizes were terribly misleading and way too large.
Best wishes and happy Red and Black Week,
-SaryWalrus

Red and Black Week: Photography and Poetry

I was a bit stuck at what to post today, as it’s raining I’m a bit limited to dressing up and couldn’t plan to many outfits and such. So, I decided to peek through some recent photo’s I’ve been experimenting with. This candle shot is one I really adore. It’s not edited at all other than the “The Walrus Room” stamp at the bottom. I also thought it’d be nice to add a poem of mine that included some red imagery, if that counts as a red and black post? It’s actually a happy poem for once! Hehe.

It’s actually a strawberry incense candle. :3

Untitled

It’s a dull day, I sit at the window.

I sit as I breath, as I bleed – I think.
This day I watch – liberates away my lust.
It unfolds inside my memories.
I feel nothing – they stare inside my windows pain
with eyes without raw interest.
This dull day shakes away adventure
that numbers my smear,
of a mark on the map that is my today.
It’s a dull dull day and I sit at the window.
I breath as I do other days.
But today is different – stagnant – messy.
This day is my day.

I hope you’re enjoying red and black week,

Red and Black Week: Retro Inspired Makeup

Red and Black week is always fantastic but for me this year it involves a lot of first things. This was my first well done (to an extent) retro inspired make up. It consists of red lipstick, black eye-liner and some black shadow. I wanted it to be something simple for everyday use.

I’m also wearing a black and white polka-dot headband!
That’s about it,
Happy Red and Black Week!

Last time I was only able to participate once as I wasn’t prepared but this time is different. If all things work out I’ll be posting everyday and I can’t wait to read everyone else’s.
